The
Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren
notes
by Pat Krabacher
23. How we grow
A.
God wants us to grow up like Christ in everything.
Eph
4:15 (Msg)
We
are not meant to remain as children.
Eph
4:14 (PH)
B.
Spiritual growth is not automatic.
It
takes an intentional commitment.
You
must want to grow, decide to grow, make an effort to grow, and persist
in growing..
Many
are afraid to commit to anything and just drift thru life.
Others
make half-hearted commitments to competing values, which leads to frustration
and mediocrity
Spiritual growth is a collaborative effort between you and the Holy Spirit.
(paraphrase)
In thinking the same as Christ we must -
1)
stop thinking immature thoughts which are self-centered and self-seeking,
and
2)
start thinking maturely which focuses on others not ourselves.
C.
Point to Ponder:
It
is never too late to start growing.
Verse
to remember:
Let
God transform you inwardly by a complete change of your mind.
Then
you will be able to know the will of God - what is good and is pleasing
to Him and is perfect.
Ro
12:2(TEV)
Question
to Consider:
What
is one area where I need to stop thinking my way and start thinking God‘s
way?
