CHURCH MEMBERSHIP

WHO ARE THESE BRETHREN?
In the New Testament, the word brethren describes the
kinship men and women who chose another way of living:
the way of Jesus.  The Church of the Brethren, begun
almost 300 years ago in Germany, still draws people who want
to continue Jesus' work of loving service.  For guidance,
Brethren look to the scriptures rather to doctrine.
Our faith emphasizes compassion, peacemaking and simplicity.
We baptize those who seek to follow Jesus; we anoint for
healing; and in the Love Feast, we reenact the Last Supper,
at which Jesus washed His disciples' feet and offered the
bread and cup of communion.  Brethren work locally and
worldwide to help victims of war, poverty and natural disasters.
We believe that when Jesus showed us another way of living,
He intended it to nourish and hearten the entire human family.

BECOMING A MEMBER OF THIS CHURCH
We accept members by Transfer and Confession.
Transfer means you are a member of another church and
want to place your membership with this congregation.  It is
necessary for you to arrange the transfer letter from your
former church.  However, the Pastor can offer
guidance on making the request.
Confession of Faith is for people who have never
belonged to this church.  Three questions need to be
considered in preparing for membership:
1)  Do you believe that Jesus is God's Son and do
you receive Him as your Savior?
2)  Do you turn away from all sin and will you endeavor by God's
grace to live according to the example and teaching of Jesus?
3)  Will you be loyal to the church, upholding her by your prayers
and your presence, your substance and your service?

The Pastor will be happy to talk with you regarding these decisions.
