The New Carlisle congregation had its beginning
in1864, when the Donnels Creek congregation
purchased a Presbyterian Church
building in New Carlisle.
Meetings were held in this building starting in 1882.
In 1892 a new building was erected, and in 1914 the
New Carlisle members formed a new congregation
separate from the Donnels Creek Church.
David Leatherman was the first elder-in-charge.
G.E. Yoder became the first full-time pastor in 1926,
followed by H.H. Helman, Robert L. Sherfy,
Chester I. Harley, John C. Middlekauf,
D. Alfred Replogle, Willam R. Kidwell,
Gene F. Hipskind, and presently, Andrew J. O. Wright.
Additions to and remodeling of the church building
occurred in 1910, 1917, 1950, 1958 and 1997.
The New Carlisle congregation had a membership in 1998 of 326.
